JEGS ProMod Challenge
U.S. Nationals will be blend of old and new for JEGS series

 
DELAWARE, Ohio (June 29) -- The JEGS ProMod Challenge field for the 54th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals will be one of the most star-studded in NHRA history. Four of six former JEGS series champions -- Josh Hernandez (2007), Jay Payne (2006), Shannon Jenkins (2002), and "Tricky Rickie" Smith (2001) -- will lead the way, but will certainly be challenged by many of today's top drivers.

Tour regulars like points leader Tony Pontieri will be joined by two-time '08 winner Joe Baker and Bristol champ Steve Engel in the fight for drag racing's biggest prize.

(June 23) -- Mike Castellana displayed the driving abilities of a champion this weekend alongside an equally impressive team that made their record-setting abilities obvious at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. In just their first outing this year with the JEGS ProMod Challenge, Castellana came close to victory, but ultimately settled for runner up honors.

Hernandez powers up points with win in Englishtown

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. (June 22) -- Reigning JEGS ProMod Challenge champion Josh Hernandez made a big move Sunday with his second victory of the season. Hernandez beat Mike Castellana in the final round of the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals to jump from sixth to second place and is now just 51 points behind leader Tony Pontieri. This was Hernandez's 15th win in the eight-year history of the series, by far the most of any racer. It was the first time he claimed a trophy at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.
